East Greenbush Preferred Chiropractor, Dr. Timothy Kelly, CCWP

"At 15 years old I thought I was going to have to give up my running career due to severe lower back pain. My grandmother knew differently...."

I first became interested in chiropractic after being helped as a 15 year old with severe lower back pain. Running high mileage, growing up on a horse farm and working with my dad doing excavation work was the down fall for my back. My grandmother, who was under regular chiropractic care, thought it would be a good idea to bring me to the chiropractor. After being helped by chiropractic as a youngster I decided then that I wanted to help others through chiropractic care as well.

Upon graduation from Averill Park High School I attended SUNY Oneonta where I majored in biology and minored in chemistry in order to prepare myself for chiropractic college. I began my chiropractic college studies in the fall of 1990, and received specialized training in chiropractic pediatrics and geriatric care.  After 3 1/2 years of intensive studies, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York Chiropractic College.

Upon my return to the Capital District I decided to go into private practice and opened East Greenbush Chiropractic. After serving the Capital District with quality chiropractic care for 14 years, I was fortunate to be able to make my dreams become a reality and opened the East Greenbush Chiropractic Wellness Center in October of 2008.  My goal with the Wellness Center was to offer area residents one location where they could address their health and wellness care needs.  With that in mind I was able to forge relationships with many health and wellness practitioners in the area and we are proud to offer not only chiropractic care but acupuncture, hypnotherapy, laser therapy and a full service anti-aging spa.  We also offer classes in yoga and Zumba.

Throughout my many years in private practice I have continued to educate myself in many different health areas and techniques by attending numerous seminars.  I have gained advanced training in pediatrics, nutrition, rehabilitative care, Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP), orthotic management through Foot Levelers and the Graston Technique (www.grastontechnique.com).  My pediatric training includes a certification in ADD/ADHD coursework.  Most recently I have completed the coursework and examinations to become a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner.  With this advanced degree I have put together a 3 part Wellness Series for our community known as the Eat Well, Move Well, Think Well series.  The knowledge and information that I have gained and put into practice has changed the lives of both myself and my family.  I offer this series free of charge so that community members can receive the information I have gained and begin making changes for themselves and their families so that they too can move toward a healthy/wellness model and away from a sickness/disease model.  I have made myself available to all community groups that need a speaker on a wide variety of health topics.  I have spoken to small community groups to large corporations as well as numerous local medical doctor offices.  For several years I have been invited to speak at Albany Medical College addressing the first and second year students on complementary health care.

I am currently a member of the International Chiropractic Association Council on Wellness and am a past president of the New York Chiropractic Council District 6.

I live in Averill Park with my lovely wife Michaelene and our two handsome sons Deaglan and Eamonn.   You will often see Michaelene in the office helping out or bringing Deaglan and Eamonn into the office for their weekly chiropractic adjustment.  I enjoy maintaining a healthy lifestyle while working on my lawns, gardening, fishing, running, weight lifting and travelling.

The Doctor Asks some important questions of interest to East Greenbush residents - Chiropractor East Greenbush The Doctor Asks...

Can babies with colic be helped with chiropractic?
It's probably one of the times a parent feels the most helpless. But based on the research, chiropractic and colic relief appear to go hand in glove. With success rates in the mid-90% range, more and more East Greenbush parents are seeing a chiropractor. If you have a baby with colic learn how chiropractic may help.
How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
